Shopify app
The Verify AI Shopify app scores every new order as it arrives, shows the assessment on the order page, and writes the risk band back as an order tag. This page covers installing it, connecting a workspace, and the settings that control what it does.
What you get
Installing the app adds six things to your store:
- Order risk block: a panel on the order details page showing the score, the risk level, each risk factor, the reasoning, and the recommendation
- Verify order action: runs a fresh verification on demand from the order details page
- Verify draft order action: the same, on draft orders, so a quote can be checked before it converts
- Automatic verification: new orders are scored from the
orders/createwebhook - Risk tag:
verify-ai:lowthroughverify-ai:critical, written onto the order - App metafields: the full assessment stored in an app-reserved namespace
The app never changes an order's status, fulfilment, or payment. See Tags and metafields for exactly what it writes.
Install the app
Install from the Shopify App Store, or open the app listing from your Shopify admin. The flow is:
- Shopify shows its own consent screen listing the scopes the app requests. Approve it.
- Shopify asks you to approve access to protected customer data, which the order scopes require.
- You land on the Verify AI connect page. Sign in with Google, GitHub, or a passkey, or create an account.
- The store attaches to the organization you are signed in to, and its verifications spend that organization's credits.
You are never asked to type your store domain. Shopify supplies it, which is what makes the install a single approval rather than a setup form.
If you already have a Verify AI account
Sign in during step 3 and the store attaches to your active organization. To attach it to a different one, switch organization first, then reinstall from Shopify.
Reconnecting a store
An owner or admin can reauthorise an existing connection from Settings in the Verify AI dashboard. Use this after Shopify revokes a token or after the app's scopes change.
Scopes
The app requests four scopes and nothing else:
| Scope | Why it is needed |
|---|---|
read_orders |
Reads the order being scored: amount, line items, addresses, contact details, and the browser IP captured at checkout |
read_draft_orders |
The same, for quotes and phone orders |
read_customers |
Order count, cancellations, returns, and average order value, which the behavioral checks compare the current order against |
write_orders |
Adds the risk tag and app metafields. This is the only write the app performs |
The order scopes also need Shopify's separate protected customer data approval on your store. Shopify prompts for it during install; without it, live stores return no order data and verifications fail.
Settings
Open Settings in the Verify AI dashboard to see the connected store and two switches. Both default to on, and both require owner or admin permission to change.
- Verify orders automatically: scores each new order from the
orders/createwebhook. Turn it off to verify by hand from the order page instead - Tag orders with the risk level: writes the
verify-ai:tag and the app metafields. Turn it off to keep the assessment inside the app
The same screen shows the store domain, when it was connected, and how many orders have been verified.
Credits
The app is free to install. Each verification consumes credits from the organization's balance, at roughly four orders per credit and one dollar per credit. Signing up includes five free credits.
If the balance reaches zero, verifications stop with an insufficient credits error rather than running and billing later. See Credits and billing.
Uninstalling
Uninstalling from Shopify sends the app/uninstalled webhook. Verify AI removes the store connection and its cached verifications, so the store disappears from your dashboard rather than lingering as a revoked entry.
Your organization's verification log is untouched. That log is your record of the decisions you made, not the store's.
