AI order risk verification

Know which orders to ship before you ship them.

Verify AI scores every order from 0 to 100, names the signals behind the number, and tells your team what to do next. Live checks on the customer, the address, the payment, and the pattern.

Product tour

From a flagged order to a decision

Follow one order through its score, the risk factors behind it, and the actions your team takes next. The tour uses a sample store with invented orders.

What you get back

A number nobody can question is a number nobody acts on.

Most fraud tools return a level and leave your team to argue about it. Verify AI returns the finding behind every point of the score, so the person deciding whether to ship has something to read rather than something to trust.

  1. The score, and the band it falls in

0 to 100, mapped to low, medium, high, or critical. The band is what your rules key off; the number is what tells you how far into it you are.

  2. Each factor, named and rated

Not a category weighting. The actual finding, its severity, and which of the five families it came from.

  3. The reasoning that produced it

Written in the language you would use to explain the hold to the customer, because that is usually the next thing that happens.

  4. A recommendation you can act on

Ship, review, verify the customer, or reject. Verify AI never cancels or refunds anything itself, so the decision stays on your audit trail.

Order #1042

ver_8k2p
78High risk

61 to 85 is the high band. Multiple fraud indicators, and the order should not ship without a check.

3 risk factors

  • Shipping address is a freight forwarderhighaddress

The Miami address is a known package consolidation and reshipping facility, not a residence.

  • Cardholder name does not match customerhighpayment

The card is in a different name from the account placing the order, with no company on the order to explain it.

  • IP resolves to a datacenter rangemediumtechnical

The order came from a hosting provider range rather than a consumer connection.

Analysis

A first order at nine times the category average, shipping to a consolidation facility, paid with a card in a third party name. Any one of these appears on legitimate orders. Together they are the reshipping pattern, and the datacenter IP removes the innocent explanation for the address.

What it checks

Five families of signal, read together

Rules engines score each signal alone, which is why a VPN gets a real customer rejected. Verify AI reads the address against the IP, the card against the customer, and the order against the history behind it.

customer

Customer

Is this a real person who wants the goods?

  • Email or phone appearing in fraud databases and scam reports
  • Disposable and throwaway email domains
  • Phone numbers that are invalid or route to VoIP
  • Names that do not resolve to a person
  • A day-old account placing a four-figure order

address

Address

Does this address exist, and does it want the parcel?

  • Shipping and billing addresses checked for real-world existence
  • Freight forwarder and reshipper addresses
  • Billing and shipping in different countries
  • Postal codes that do not match the city or state
  • PO boxes on high-value orders

payment

Payment

Does the card match the person using it?

  • Cardholder name against the customer name on the order
  • Prepaid and high-risk card brands
  • Expiry patterns consistent with card testing
  • Payment details that contradict the billing address

technical

Technical

Where is the order coming from?

  • IP geolocation against both addresses on the order
  • VPN, proxy, Tor, and datacenter ranges
  • IP addresses listed in spam and abuse databases
  • User agents that read as automation rather than a browser

behavioral

Behavioral

Does this order fit the customer who placed it?

  • Cancellation and return rates against total order count
  • Order value against the customer average
  • First order that is far larger than a first order should be
  • Rush shipping on goods that resell easily
  • Item combinations that show up in reshipping fraud

And then

They get weighed against each other

A VPN on its own is a low severity note. A VPN, a reshipper address, and a card in someone else’s name is the pattern. The score reflects the combination, and the factor list shows you which parts of it fired.

Severity: low · medium · high · critical

Afterwards

Every decision keeps its reasoning

A chargeback arrives six weeks after the order. The log still has the score, the factors, the analysis, and the recommendation from the day it shipped.

Nothing is overwritten

Re-verifying an order writes a new row to the log rather than replacing the old one, so you can see what changed and when.

Filterable by level and date

Find every high and critical order from a period without opening them one at a time.

Scoped to the organization

Logs, credits, connections, and members belong to a workspace. Agencies run one per client and nothing crosses.
Cost

Pay per order scored, not per seat.

Credits are spent when a verification runs. Invite the whole fulfilment team at no extra cost, and stop scoring in any month you do not need to.

Nothing

Indicative only. Consumption is metered on the model tokens, address validations, and web searches each analysis actually uses, so an order carrying full customer history, payment details, and technical data costs more than a bare one. Your balance and every verification’s cost are visible in the app.

Questions

The things people ask on the first call

Does it cancel or refund orders on its own?
No, and that is deliberate. Verify AI returns a score, the factors behind it, and a recommendation, then writes a tag and app metafields on Shopify orders. Holding, cancelling, and refunding stay with your team and your Shopify Flow rules, which keeps the decision on your audit trail rather than ours.
How is this different from the risk level Shopify already shows?
Shopify tells you a level. Verify AI tells you what it found: the address is a reshipping facility, the cardholder name does not match the customer, the IP is a datacenter range. Each finding carries a severity and a category, so the person deciding whether to ship has something to read.
Will it flag my real customers?
A VPN or an international order comes back as one low or medium severity factor, not a verdict. The score reflects the whole picture, and you set the threshold at which a human gets involved. Every score is stored with its reasoning, so you can tune that threshold against what actually happened.
What data do you store?
The order ID you supply plus the AI output: score, level, factors, reasoning, and recommendations. Full order details are transient and are not written to the database. Credit and AI usage are logged separately for billing.
How long does a verification take?
15 to 30 seconds. The analysis reads live sources rather than a static rules table, which is where the time goes and also where the accuracy comes from.
Do we have to move off our current platform?
No. The Shopify app installs in a few minutes. Everything else goes through one REST endpoint that takes an order and returns a decision, so WooCommerce, BigCommerce, a custom checkout, or an internal tool all work the same way.
Who is behind this?
The Developer Company Inc., which builds the TDCCommerce unified ERP and eCommerce platform. Verify AI runs standalone against any stack, and natively inside TDCCommerce.

Running a different business? High-ticket retail, B2B and wholesale, subscription brands, and agencies each have their own page.
